Aerial Yoga: Conditioning for Arm Balances

Arm balances can be quite a scary thing for most of us, but with the help of an aerial hammock, what seemed impossible becomes safe and accessible.

Getting strong in your practice is a physical and mental triumph. Balancing on your hands and forearms takes \ focus, strength, practice and determination. This series is geared towards learning how to safely and with proper alignment get into two of the most challenging poses yet most desired ones: Forearm stand, and Handstand. Be ready for lots of arm strengthening, core building, and inversions as you take your world upside down.

Each week we will incorporate sequences to help build upper arm strength and core conditioning needed to hold these poses in the hammock and off the mat. Once your body begins to recognize these poses and, and you trust yourself in these inversions, you’ll be able to take these poses out of the hammock and onto your mat practice.

Week 1 – Crow

Week 2 – Handstand

Week 3 – Shoulder stand

Week 4 – Scorpion
